ANCIENT CITIES AROUND MANDALAY
Cut off by roads by rivers and canals, the ancient city of Inwa served as capital of Burmese Kingdom for nearly 400 years longer than any other city. It is situated only 30 minutes’ drive south of Mandalay. Finest attractions site o the Inwa are BagayaKyoung( no renovated and which dates from1834), Nanmyint Tower ( a 27 m-high watchtower which gives a births’ eye view of the ancient site and Maha-Aungmyae-Bonzan( also known as Okkyoung or the Me-Nu Okkyoung ). Tis Okkyoung is a brick and stucco monastery built by Queen Me-Nu, the chief Queen of Innwa.
