Dawei

Dawei, Myanmar

 

Dawei, in Tanintharyi Division, is a coastal region lies in Southern part of Myanmar with an area of more than 2,600 square miles. Various nationalities such as Bamar, Mon , Kayin, Rakhine and Shan totaling over 120,000 are residing in Dawei. Dawei is dotted with famous historical pagodas and can be accessible with all means of transportation. A place to visit in Dawei is Maungmakan Beach, a well-known beauty spot of Myanmar, which is about 10 Miles from Dawei. There are also a number of hot water aprings around the outskirts, about one to a few hours' drive from Dawei. There is one quite close to Maungmagan (one the way to Maungmagan from Dawei). The largest reclining Buddha in Myanmar is in Dawei (about 30 minutes drive from DAwei). The closest city from Dawei is Yeiphyu. Dawei Hope at a long sleeved peninsula has a lighthouse guiding to Dawei port and Mali Naval Base.
