Chaungtha Beach lies in the southwest of Pathein( the capital of Ayeyarwaddy division) and is approximately 6 6-hour drive from Yangon. The beach curves inwards and long for nearly one mile. There is an island called Thebyu, which means “white sand”, which can be seen from the beach. But actually, it is not formed with white sand, is formed by oysters and shells carried and piled up by tidal waves.
Visitors can enjoy sightseeing in the neighboring villages and study the fishing industry, and the livelihood of the local people. Chaungtha is a beautiful beach with silver sands, and a pristine green sea, flanked by palm trees. Surfing in the sea and riding on the bullock cart along the beach is an unforgettable experience.
