Chaungtha beach lies in the south west of Pathein( the capital of Ayeyarwaddy division) and approximately 6 hours drive from Yangon . The beach curves inwards and long for nearly one mile. There is an island called Thebyu , literally mean “white sand”, can be seen from the beach. But actually it is not formed with white sand, is formed by oysters and shells carried and piled up by tidal waves. Visitors can enjoy sightseeing in the neighboring villages and stud fishing industry, the livelihood of the local people. Chaungtha is a beautiful beach with silver sands, pristine green sea, flanked by palm trees. Surfing in the sea and riding on the bullock-cart along the beach is an unforgettable experience.
