Package Itinerary

Mandalay, Myanmar's cultural heart, serves as the perfect jumping-off point for a journey to Mingun, a town that encapsulates the grandeur and unfulfilled dreams of the Konbaung Dynasty. The journey itself is a delight, typically a scenic riverboat trip across the Irrawaddy River, offering glimpses of local life along the banks.

Mingun's main attraction is the colossal, unfinished Mingun Pahtodawgyi pagoda. Originally intended to be the world's largest stupa, it was left a massive, albeit impressive, brick shell after construction halted in the late 18th century following King Bodawpaya's death. An earthquake in 1838 left noticeable cracks, adding to its rugged charm. Today, visitors can climb the structure for panoramic views of the river and the surrounding landscape.

Program:

We will pick you up at your hotel at 08:00 AM and drive to Mandalay jetty, where you embark on a private boat across the river Ayeyarwaddy to visit Mingun. Visit the unfinished Pathodawgyi Pagoda, a brick counterpart of the pyramid in Egypt, the Mingun Bell, the second largest of the world’s largest uncracked bells, weighing 90 tons, and Hsinbyme or MyaThein Dan Pagoda.

Then, we will go back to Mingun jetty and take a boat to Mandalay. After lunch, a sightseeing tour of Mandalay includes the highly revered Mahamuni Pagoda; a gold leaf hammering crafts hop, the beautiful teak monastery; Shwenandaw, where King Mindon died, and Kuthodaw Pagoda, renowned as the world's largest book for its 729 marble slabs on which the whole of Buddha’s Doctrine is inscribed, and a copy of the Shwezigon in Bagan.

If time permits, Mandalay Hill offers a spectacular and panoramic view, with the rays of the setting sun reflected in the water of the great Ayeyarwaddy River. After enjoying your sunset, having dinner, and transferring back to your hotel.
